Around 900 million people believe in Hinduism around the world and thus it would not be surprising to find Hindu temples in a country of Hindu abundance. There are millions of Hindu temples in the country. Some of them are very ancient. Many Hindu temples are built with such styles to surprise the visitors. The devotees have taken great care of their old heritage, due to which the old temples have survived from being destroyed.
It is not easy to choose ten temples from the long list of temples in India. The temples you choose may disappoint those whose favorite temples will not be included in this list.
Yet today, I have tried to shed light on the ten temples because of their popularity, conviction, history and architectural importance. These temples include -

This temple, known as Lord Shiva, is one of the holiest temples in India. This temple was built by Ahilyabai in 1780. This temple is considered to be very important for those who believe in getting relief from sins by bathing in the holy Ganges river.
2. Lord Jagannath Temple
Location: Puri, Odisha
Lord Jagannath Temple, with 120 temples housing it, is one of the oldest temples in India. Built in the 12th century, this temple is very popular for the annual Rath Yatra. The followers believe that Mahaprasad was distributed here by Goddess Lakshmi and those who received this prasad received spiritual knowledge.
3. Venkateswara Tirupati Balaji Temple
Location: Andhra Pradesh
Tirupati Balaji Temple is one of the most famous temples in India, attracting around 40 million visitors every year. It is also the second richest temple in the country. It was built during the reign of Krishnadeva Raya. On special occasions, around 5 lakh pilgrims visit the temple.
4.Vaishno Devi Temple
Location: Jammu
Situated on the hilltop, this temple is one of the famous Hindu temples in India. This temple dedicated to Shakti is the second most famous temple in the country. About 8 lakh devotees come here every year to visit.
5.Somnath Temple
Location: Gujarat
The Somnath temple has been revered as the first Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Chandradev built this temple after being free from the curse of Lord Shiva. Since then this temple has also been repaired several times.
6. Kamakhya Devi Temple
Location: Assam
This temple, known as Kamakhya Devi, is the oldest temple among the 51 Shakti Peethas. The most important pilgrimage for Tantric worshipers. Those who believe in the attainment of all wishes to Kamakhya Devi, offer goats as a sacrifice to Goddess in the form of worship.
7. Mahabodhi Temple
Location: Bihar
This is the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment, making it one of the most revered places for people who follow Buddhism. It has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Hindus and Buddhists from all over the world come to visit here.
8. Siddhivinayak Temple
Location: Maharashtra
Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai is a major temple of Lord Ganesha, it was built in 1801. The inner roof of the temple complex is made of gold and wooden doors carved with images of Ashtavinayak.
9. Ramanathaswamy Temple
(Rameswaram)
Location: Tamil Nadu
One of the most popular temples in South India, the Ramanathaswamy Temple is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in the country. The sanctum sanctorum of this temple has two Shivalingas, one built by Sita Devi and one built by Lord Hanuman.
10. Shirdi Sai Baba Temple
Location: Maharashtra
This holy temple of Sai Baba is considered to be the third richest temple in India. Shirdi is the birthplace of Sai Baba, therefore, it is considered as a place of pilgrimage by his followers. Millions of devotees of many religions visit this temple every year. About 35 crore rupees come to the temple every year as donations.
